In a cultural-hermeneutic orientation towards questions of globalization and processes of change in the world, this research program focuses on a specific understanding of education and upbringing. At the heart of this is the examination of the relationship between the individual and structure(s) in processes of education and upbringing, as well as the (culturally conditioned) relationships of authority that can be found in these processes. These two perspectives are intertwined to the extent that the connection between education and culture as an instrument of analysis opens up the possibility for the reconstruction of culturally conditioned relations of authority in the context of globalization. The "Global Education" Research Training Group draws on theoretical questions and practical approaches in order to make the above-mentioned perspective more visible within the framework of the structured supervision of dissertations.
